ASPHALT RIVER CHURCH is a biblically-centric, non-denominational, non-traditional church focused on being a real church home for the homeless.
We conduct church at locations where the homeless gather, or at a location wherein they can congregate. We open the doors to the church van, our church home, and share the message of Jesus, and through Him the reality of hope and salvation.
Our worship service includes sharing of the Gospel, a time of fellowship, and an opportunity to provide snacks and items of sustenance to our church members and visitors. Baptism, through immersion, is available to church members that desire to publicly demonstrate their acceptance of Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. We also look to provide transportation throughout the week to appointments, to be available for prayer, and to visit church members at their overnight sleeping location, at the hospital, or in jail.
We are intent upon fulfilling the Great Commission of Jesus, found in Matthew 28:19, to "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
Most homeless are forced to trudge up and down assorted streets, roadways, and interstates along what we refer to as the “Asphalt River.” Travel on the Asphalt River is difficult, long in duration, and fraught with innumerable challenges and dangers. The Asphalt River the homeless traverse is the equivalent of how people move, utilizing streams, creeks, and rivers as tributaries – each connected and each providing a pathway to move from one location to another. Just as moving on a risky waterway is hazardous, the Asphalt River is fraught with danger and unexpected challenges.
We endeavor to reduce the challenges faced by our homeless brothers and sisters. It is our goal to embrace and live the example provided in Matthew 25:35-36, "For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you took care of Me; I was in prison and you visited Me."
Here is what we would ask of you, please, support our church with prayer and with financial gifts. 2 Corinthians 9:7 states, "Each person should do as he has decided in his heart—not reluctantly or out of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver." We would ask you to abide by that guidance. We have included links, below, for donations. If you prefer to give by check, please send your donation to:

We seek to live the mandate found in 1 Peter 4:11, "If anyone speaks, it should be as one who speaks God’s words; if anyone serves, it should be from the strength God provides, so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything. To Him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen."
